After Kim and I ran on Friday we were hot and sweaty, standing in line at Starbuck’s both of us yawning constantly, the guy behind the counter said “why are you yawning?”  We told him we had just ran 14 miles, that’s why, he said “you shouldn’t be tired.”  Well, that’s not why we were yawning, I read this article last night in Fitness magazine and now I know why we were yawning so much.   “Yawning is actually your body’s way of cooling down.  Your temperature rises during exercise, heating up your blood and brain,” says yawn expert Gordon Gallup, Ph.D at the State University of New York.  “Yawning brings in outside air, which regulates your body’s thermostat.”  Who knew.
