It’s been 6 months since my last post

Okay, let’s get this party started again!  I think I’m ready to blog about my running again and maybe my Insanity workouts and of course the grandbaby who just turned a year old!  Geez, time flies.  I can’t believe I haven’t posted in 6 months, pathetic….

Well, let’s see, I have a new job, my foot is better but somewhere along the way I lost a ton of running mojo and a ton of cardio/endurance.  I was doing a local Boot Camp class which I thought would keep my cardio up and it did to an extent, but as I learned, you can’t replace running 30-40 miles a week with 3 or 4 days of cardio, especially at my age.

Still trying to get back to where I was in December and it’s a struggle, every run sucks, I’m winded, my heart rate is in the 160s, ugh.  I keep thinking it should be better by now, but I’m just not putting in the mileage.  My daily running buddy Kim moved so I have a million excuses not to get up and run or cut my run short.  Tammy and I started Insanity 3 weeks ago and it is definitely an intense cardio workout.  She has noticed some improvement in her running, but I really haven’t yet, not sure why, but I’m hopeful.

Today I took an unexpected rest day, I strained my back doing something on Friday, so after yesterday’s 4 mile run and then Insanity, oh not to mention I had the baby and we went out to my Sister’s to swim for the day, I was beat!  My back was telling me to take it easy, so that’s what I did.

I hope to get in a 3 mile run tomorrow or Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, Saturday will be 6 miles, keeping my fingers crossed.

Well this is a start, hopefully I will keep it up!

Here is a new picture of the baby, she is walking and getting into everything!

Sweet girl!

  1. Hi!
Upon Googling myself (yes I Google myself hehe) I found a mention of me and an article I wrote about leaky pipes in a comment of one of your blog posts from last year! LOL. So I decided to read more while I was here. I just started running last year, and hiking, LOVED it, haven’t done it at all this year. For a hundred reasons, mainly revolving around family. I also put my back out this weekend. The similarities were too much for me not to comment. I’ll check back and see how your running is going. Maybe it will motivate me again! Good luck!

  2. Almost forgot – AND I started a new running blog based in my hometown of Flint, Michigan. Since no running I haven’t been very inspired. Maybe now though… =)
