I’ve missed you blog

It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted anything on my blog.  There have been many, many changes over the past almost 2 years.  One, I should probably change the name of my blog to “NOT a Arkansas Runner Girl” since I hardly ever run, but hopefully I can get back on track soon.  Two, I bought a food truck, that’s right me and a good friend bought a food truck, then she took over the whole business and then sold it.   Three, I have another grand baby, Sadie, born September 5, 2013.  Lots of other things going on, nothing super exciting, working out at my favorite boot camp 4 days a week, doing lots of crafts, which I love and keeping Sydney on Saturday and part of Sunday.  Will try and post some more later.  Miss you blog…..

Stupid Foot

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I had a great Christmas with the BOJ, so much more fun with a baby around.  They came over early opened gifts and then left for Aaron’s side of the Family.  On Sunday we all headed to my Mom’s house in Carlisle, we really had a great time.  Mom cooked a big pot of Chili and cornbread, I  made a, from scratch, German Chocolate Cheesecake, perfect for a cold Christmas Day!  We did a dirty Santa gift exchange, this was the first time we had ever done such a thing, it was weird to say the least, but nice to spend a fortune on gifts no one wants or likes.  The baby was perfect and everyone had a big time with her.

Okay enough of the sugar and spice, my stupid foot hurts!!  It’s been hurting for a month or two, I think it’s plantar faciitis, but who knows, it started around the edge of my heel, so I treated it by stretching it every morning and doing calf raises, it just kept getting worse.

The week before Christmas Kim and I ran a 16-miler with our buddy Patrick up in the Heights and by the time we were finished I thought my foot was going to fall off, it was freaking miserable.  I was limping up to Starbucks after we finished.  Tried stretching and icing all that good crap and it still hurt.  Took off on Sunday and Monday, short runs the rest of the week, all with pain.  We ran on Christmas morning, at about mile 5 it was killing me, I said some choice cuss words I was just over it, the pain was putting me in a pissy mood.  Thank goodness we were not running more than 6.

Day after Christmas we were meeting the Little Rock Marathon training group for a 10 miler, I got up as normal and tried to run up and down my street for my warm-up, I couldn’t even run, I limp/ran, what the hell?  It really was bad.  I didn’t know if it would warm up, my foot that is, or not, so I decided to go ahead and meet Kim and see what would happen.  After Kim got their, I explained that I may not be able to run the whole route and if she wanted to run ahead she was more than welcome to, it would not hurt my feelings one bit!  She didn’t want to run the route by herself so she stuck with me, such a great running buddy!

We made it about 3 miles before I couldn’t stand it a much longer, we cut it short, made it  a total of about 4 miles, holy hell, this is not going well for my marathon training!!  The whole week after Christmas was a bust!  I tried to run again on Tuesday, down to the end of my street and right back home, same on Wednesday.  I finally called Dr. Nix’s office and made an appointment, not sure what they can do other than stick a big fat needle in my foot, yikes!!  At this point I might just let them.    So I really haven’t run since last Sunday, I haven’t gone this long without running since I sprained my ankle a couple of years ago!  Good thing it’s cold out!  HA!

Anyway, my foot was feeling a little better today so I thought I would try it out, not bad for the first mile, painful, but not near as bad as earlier in the week.  I can take pain, hell I’m old, there is always some sort of pain!  I told myself, make another loop around the lake, I was making my second loop when BAM!!  These shooting/stabbing pains started in my heel and arch, holy cow!  Stopped me in my Mizunos!  I had to turn around and head home once again.  This sucks, stupid foot, stupid old age!  Stupid fat ass!

So, I guess we will see what the Doc says on Wednesday, I’m sure I will be back on track soon since I have signed up for both the Little Rock Marathon AND the Hobbitom Challenge the day before!

What are Heel Spurs?  Could it be heel spurs?

Hating being in this place

Do I really have to be here?  I’m hating every second.  I arrived in the Westchester County Airport on Sunday around 5:30 pm, and the time has been creeping by.  I won’t bore you with all the horrid details.  Here is a small recap:

Sunday worked until 9pm in Yorktown Heights, pissed because none of the people who summoned me here were at the office, par for the course.  Staying in Mt Kisco about 20 minutes away from the office, very hilly and winding roads here.  Like being in the Ozark Mountains.

Monday I was going to get up a run on the dreadmill, but I couldn’t force myself to do it.  I took running clothes to work with me thinking I could get in a late lunch, the temperature was supposed to be upper 50s.  Work was horrible. Horrible.  I am the  step child, I don’t know the system, well, hello, this was not my project, everyone knew this.  Its like – what’s she doing her, what are you supposed to be doing.  It sucks.  I decided to go on a 4 mile run at 4pm, it starts getting dark here around 5pm.  One of the girls told me where I could run a loop around town.  Another disaster, I made 1 loop, it was 1 mile, but I almost lost my life twice and the sidewalk, when there was one was too uneven to run on.  Gave it up.  Once everyone saw me in my running clothes then they started telling me about the track, oh now you tell me.

Worked Monday night until 8:30pm, picked up a salad at Applebee’s for dinner and stayed up way too late, probably the huge Diet Pepsi I had with my salad.

Got up Tuesday morning at 6am and headed to the smaller than hotel room size fitness room.  I mean tiny, there were two treadmills, a bike and a stair stepper.  You could barely walk between each one.  I started running and then bam, had to go to the bathroom for the second time.  Back to the dreadmill.  Uh oh, another new pain, what the hell???  This is like a groin muscle or something, feels like I pulled something.  I’m running anyway.  Shins are killing me too.  All I can do is 3 miles at about a 10:40 pace.  I was done.  Just hated being in that room looking at a wall.

Off to work again, I did find a Starbuck’s, best part of the day.  I left at 7;30 tonight, yeah, maybe 6:30 tomorrow night if I’m lucky.  The office has not become any nicer to me and I’m not sure if I’m coming back next week or not.  I have made myself very useful doing data entry, but it is pure torture being here.  There are 3 girls here from our Chicago office and they have been nice, but not nice enough to invite me to dinner with them tonight.

My groin muscle or whatever, is really hurting me, maybe it will feel better tomorrow, I’m going to take my clothes to work tomorrow and go run on the track late in the day.  Screw ’em.

Sick and no Running

Here I am in Sunny Boca Raton, Florida where the high today will be 81 and I’m sick as a dog!  I arrived yesterday afternoon around 1pm and headed straight to the drugstore for more Kleenex, meds and Sucrets.  The plane ride was miserable, I thought my ear drums would explode and I’m sure the people around me were not very happy with this sick person blowing snot constantly.

After my trip to the drugstore it was over to Panera Bread for a piping hot bowl of Chicken Noodle soup and a cookie, I thought that might make me feel a little better, and it did for about 30 minutes, then I was ready for bed.  Unfortunately I had to come to the corporate office to make my appearance and look all chipper, well, I didn’t look all chipper, my nose was raw and red, eyes watery, throat was on fire and still is.  I only had to stay until 5 and then I went over to Boneheads for a small Greek Salad and peel and eat shrimp to go and FINALLY to my hotel.

Once I got checked in and up to my room it was freezing, they had the thermostat on 65, I cranked up the heat, I know it’s 80 outside, and munched on my shrimp and salad.  I didn’t even feel like putting my pj’s on.  I got a pillow and blanket and laid down on the couch and watched TV, I fell asleep about 7 woke up at 8:30, called Glenn, got my face washed, more meds, and in bed.  Oh yes, turned off the heat and air on.  I woke up in a sweat at some point and turned the air down more, still hot.  I never could get the temperature right.

I thought about getting up and running this morning, but there was no way, I feel like crap.  My throat is killing me, and I’m very tired, just want to go back to bed.  I’m at work now, have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing and since they’ve left me alone, I thought I’d get a quick post in.

At this point I’m not sure if I’ll get any runs in this week.  I wish I could get some antibiotics or something, just hope to feel better by tomorrow.  I have plans to meet the Boca Road Runners tomorrow night for a 5 mile run.  I also need to get some Christmas shopping done.  I hate this freaking head cold!  I never get sick.  Never say never.
